Marsha Williams

Meet Marsha! Your enthusiastic curriculum developer!
Marsha has an extensive background in public service. With over 30+ years of service, she is happily retired.
Marsha has two amazing sons, Derrick & DJ.

Marsha started her career in law enforcement in 1995 at the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office. She served as a Detention Officer there until 1997, then transferred to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office. The transfer allowed her to continue her education. In 2004, Marsha graduated from Pfeiffer University with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. Working full-time, Marsha enrolled in Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) full-time at Gaston College in 2008. She graduated President of her class and was immediately promoted to deputy sheriff with Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office. In 2009 Deputy Williams attended Rowan-Cabarrus Community College and acquired her Criminal Justice General Instructor Certification. She still currently maintains Department of Justice and Sheriff’s Standards instructor certifications, along with General Instructor Orientation (Instructor). Wanting to continue her education Marsha enrolled in Methodist University and graduated with honors with a Masters in Justice Administration in 2017. Her career continued to bloom with the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office. At the rank of Captain, Marsha Williams decided to take an early retirement in 2021. The early retirement was short-lived as she was invited to join the
Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Office. Marsha served as the Civil Executions coordinator, court bailiff, and Housing Supervisor.

From June 2022 through June 2025, Marsha was appointed to serve a three (3) year term with the
North Carolina Department of Justice Commission. Commissioner Marsha Williams faithfully
on the Education and Training committee. The North Carolina Law Enforcement Women’s Association (NCLEWA) promotes professionalism, training and education. Marsha has been an avid member of NELEWA for 13 years. She served as Vice President, President and Executive director of NCLEWA. Marsha also recently completed a second Masters from the John Wesley School of Leadership / Organizational Management via Carolina University.

Marsha Williams uses her education and training throughout the state. She currently teaches for
CCSO training division, Davidson-Davie Community College, Cleveland Community College,
North Carolina Board of County Commissioners Association, and the North Carolina Jail
Administrator’s Association. Her partnerships with various community colleges continues in her
retirement.

Marsha’s hobbies include line and ballroom dancing.
